Water Texture
Ever wanted to learn how to make a water(ish) texture? It's quite simple. A few filters, some adjustments and you're done. Good luck.
Open up a new image, size doesn't matter, neither does the background (transparent, white, etc.)
Now set your colors to default by pressing D, then go to Render > Clouds.
Once you're done go to Filter > Sketch > Chrome and use the default settings: Detail 4, smoothness 7.
Now we need to add some color, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and use the settings shown below:
The next step is to increase the contrast. Go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast and set the contrast to +50. Leave the brightness at 0. It should now look similar to this:
Now for the final step. To make it look more water-ish we use Filter > Disort > Ripple. We could use Ocean
Ripple, but I think the "normal" ripple looks better. You decide. Set the amount to max (999%) and size to Large. Click
OK. You could say you're done now, but I like to use the Ripple filter one more time. I
think it looks a bit more realistic, so let's go for it. Press Ctrl+F to repeat the Ripple filter.
